This cost-effective laundry renovation for a customer on the Northern Beaches completely transformed the space. The old laundry was original, dating back to the 1980s when the townhouse was built.

The downstairs laundry of this Northern Beaches townhouse serves as a second toilet and powder room for visitors.
The original laundry didn’t have enough storage for the family so it was often untidy and not practical for guest use.
On a tight budget, the owners asked Peter if he would be able to add more storage, improve the layout while make it easy to keep clean should guests arrive.
The first step of this laundry renovation was to strip out all the old cabinetry. To keep the costs to a minimum, Peter purchased flat-packed shelving and a benchtop directly from Bunnings.
He then installed new taps and round sink which was integrated into the concrete-look laminate benchtop. Opting for a smaller, round sink and integrating it into the benchtop not saved on valuable benchspace but created a cleaner, more modern look.
And finally, Peter installed new tiles behind the bench and around the bottom of the walls. To stay within the customer’s limited budget, Peter painted the floor using tile paint. This is a cost-effective solution until the customer decides whether they will retile the floor.
The customer was ecastic with the outcome and now they have a new laundry that was within their budget. Importantly, the addition of more storage means the laundry is kept neat and tidy.
