benchtop removal

Removing and raising a benchtop to fit a washing machine

A simple and cost-effective benchtop renovation.

Moving into a new home often comes with surprises and for one Northern Beaches family, the problem was in the laundry. Their washing machine wouldn’t fit under the existing benchtop. Rather than replacing a perfectly good appliance, they called Peter for a smarter solution.

benchtop removal

A quick, money-saving solution.

Instead of removing and replacing the entire laundry cabinetry, Peter raised the existing benchtop to create the extra clearance needed.

First, he carefully removed the silicone seal and lifted the benchtop. Then, using 40mm timber spacers, he installed new support pieces on top of the cupboards to lift the benchtop enough to slide the washing machine underneath.

Once the benchtop was repositioned, Peter resealed it with fresh silicone for a clean, finished look.

The benefits of Peter’s solution:

  • No need to buy a new washing machine
  • No demolition or new cabinetry required
  • Quick, affordable and tidy solution
  • Maintained the look and function of the space

This job is a perfect example of Peter’s ability to problem-solve with a practical, budget-friendly approach, thinking creatively to adapt existing fittings to suit his client’s needs, saving both time and money.
